With over 25-years in the automotive industry, (foreign and domestic) and professional racing in several venues, Gonzalez started working in the automotive industry in 1978 when he got his first car and since that time has worked in many diverse automotive mechanical and metal fabrication fields. Along the way Gonzalez has honed his skills to the level of which has enabled him to consistently move steadily forward in the field of engineering, repair, design, and fabrication. Gonzalez is also an accomplished auto mechanic, manual machinist as well as a welder with over 25-years of experience working with all metals and processes, and possesses a strong mechanical background in many types of automotive systems including: suspension, engine, brakes, drive-train, electrical and engine management systems.

Gonzalez possesses sales, management and project development skills. His background has many facets in the automotive performance industry including general and performance mechanical (all facets), fabrication (sheet-metal and structural), mill and lathe machinist, welding of many types, practical design experience in both mechanical and R&D. Highly skilled in prototyping and in many areas of manufacturing and repair.

Raised in the Southern California car culture Paul Gonzalez became a Hot Rodder and Street Racer at age 16. By age 18 Gonzalez became a Certified Welder through Orange Coast College in Southern California. Over the next several years Gonzalez worked in many facets of auto repair and restoration.

Gonzalez's passion for racing led to involvement in nine different venues of professional racing in different positions ranging from crew member, chief mechanic, and then Indy Cars for Dan Gurney¹s All American Racers, ultimately becoming the head of the Research and Development Fabrication department.

Gonzalez's love of racing is not limited to wheels and served as a crew chief for an Offshore Powerboat racing team as well as being an avid boater. All of his experience in welding, fabrication, manual machinist, auto mechanical, body ,paint and restoration, are applied to being the current owner of Paul Gonzalez Custom Cars in Westminster, California and also lends itself to owning and maintaining many of his personal muscle cars over the years - mostly GM "A" and "F" bodies.

Being a specialist in prototype fabrication led to participation in two DARPA funded projects for the Department of Defense using his acute experience in engineering design and fabrication.

Recently Gonzalez has participated in an "Overhaulin" TV build and has worked with Pteazer design in a build-off for the show Rides to unveil the new Chevy HHR. To put all of his work experiences to use, Mother's Car Polish, Inc. invited Gonzalez to be a judge for the coveted "SHINE" Award at the SEMA show 2 years running, along the way developing a relationship with Mother's and participating in the build of their El Camino signature vehicle.
